Hālau Nā Mamo O Tulipa is a Polynesian Hālau or Dance group that has a strong emphasis on the Hawaiian language, culture, and dance. The hālau’s mission is to encourage and enhance the knowledge of Hawaiian and Polynesian cultures through dance, language, music, and song.
The hālau was established in 2004 by Kumu Hula Leato S. Savini of Waiʻanae, Hawaiʻi.
Hālau Nā Mamo O Tulipa is named after the late MARGARET TULIPA AFOA-LUTU-SAVINI. The hālau strives to continue her Legacy of Hula and Polynesian Dance to all of its haumāna and ʻohana as well as its audiences. The hālau has three branches: Hawaiʻi, Japan, and Virginia. Their main hālau is located in Kapolei, HI.
The hālau also has a partnership with Hawaiʻi Maoli, a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization for the Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs, and Hawaiian Organizations such as us. From time to time Hālau Nā Mamo O Tulipa works together with Tapalau Faa Anamua a Tahitian Drum School under the direction of Siva Savini (Son of our Namesake). Hālau Nā Mamo O Tulipa is led by a diverse group of individuals in each branch. Kumu Leato S. Savini is the Executive Director and oversees the entire hālau and travels between each location.
